Bio

Patrick Morey brings a winning mindset and a strong track record of player development to the Thrillville Thrillbillies. With deep roots in baseball and a commitment to excellence, he is focused on building a competitive team both on and off the field.

Morey joins the Thrillbillies after his 8-year run as an Assistant Baseball Coach at John A. Logan College, where he has helped develop one of the top pitching staffs in the nation. Under his leadership, Logan’s pitchers have consistently set new records, including a program-best 532 strikeouts in 2021. That same year, his staff ranked 11th nationally in total strikeouts and finished among the top 25 in strikeouts per nine innings (10.86). His impact extends beyond the stat sheet, with more than 26 of his pitchers earning NCAA Division I scholarships and four advancing to professional baseball since 2018.

Morey is no stranger to the Prospect League, having previously coached with the Danville Dans. His experience in the league gives him valuable insight into its level of competition and player development, which he now brings to the Thrillbillies.

Before Logan, Morey spent three seasons at McCook Community College, where he helped guide the team to back-to-back Region IX tournament appearances, rewriting the school’s record books along the way. His coaching career also includes time at Mount Michael Benedictine High School in Nebraska, where he served as Co-Head Coach.

As a player, Morey was a standout at Hastings College, earning two Gold Glove selections and recognition as the 2008 All-GPAC Relief Pitcher. He remains one of the program’s all-time leaders in multiple hitting and pitching categories and holds the school record for sacrifice flies. After his playing career, he transitioned to coaching, helping lead Hastings to a GPAC Championship as the team’s pitching coach in 2011.

Now at the helm of the Thrillbillies, Morey is dedicated to building a team that reflects his passion for competition, development, and success. His leadership will play a key role in shaping the future of the franchise and bringing an exciting brand of baseball to Southern Illinois.
